Visit to Ancient Philippi

Our tour guide, Marina, provided history of this amphitheater, once used to celebrate Dionysius, the Greek god of wine, to Roman executions of early Christians, to modern day dramas and concerts.

We are standing in the ruins of an actual Agora in ancient Philipi. This was the common area where the Greek community was built.

The ruins of the Basilica at Philipi.

Basking in the hot Grecian sun as we here how this Basilica was never used because the dome collapsed.
